Personal Project Objectives

Personal Project Guide from IB
MYP students in their final year explore an area of personal interest over an extended period. It provides them the opportunity to consolidate their learning and develop important skills they’ll need in both further education and life beyond the classroom. It also helps them develop confidence to become principled, lifelong learners.

Report-writing guidelines and checklist

REMEMBER: Your written report should be close to the 3500-word maximum. Keep this in mind when you edit your report draft. You may want to balance each section of your report writing approximately 875 words for each of the 4 parts. Or you might choose to write a bit less for Criteria A and B (approximately 750 words each) and a bit more for Criteria C and D (approximately 1000 words each).

Criterion A: Investigating
Here are some helpful guidelines for writing or planning the first part of your report, no matter the medium you choose to report in. Save this document and refer to it as you draft your report. (These guidelines have been adapted from those developed by Joe Schaaf at The International School of Tianjin.)
Criterion B: Planning
Use these guidelines to help you draft the "Planning" part of your report. Remember to write this in the future tense.
Criterion C: Taking action
Use these guidelines to help you draft the third part of your report. Pay close attention to the higher level ATL skills you want to show evidence of and how you can do this with the selection of extracts from your process journal.
Criterion D: Reflecting
These guidelines have been provided to help you to draft the fourth part of your report.
