Battle of the Books 2023-2024

Battle of the Books 2023-2024

We are excited to announce AISG’s Battle of the Books (BOB)! All students in grades 3-5 are invited to participate.

Reading a variety of literature from different genres, good sportsmanship, developing leadership skills, and just plain FUN are some benefits of participating on a BOB team. We are here to encourage and cheer your reading success and want BOB to be exciting and fun!

Some rules to remember:

Read the required number of books (minimum 3) before the battles begin at the end of March.

Attend all BOB sessions in the library. If you are absent or tardy more than twice, you will no longer be able to participate (if you are at home sick, it is an excused absence).

Demonstrate good sportsmanship during or after a battle. Be encouraging of all teams.

Be mindful of other teams and team members, and check out one BOB at a time.

As you read, you are encouraged to take notes about the book's setting, characters, and main idea. One way to do this is by using an index card as a bookmark and taking notes as you read. You'll want to review the notes before the battles (no notes are allowed during battles).

We will have weekly meetings for teams to collaborate and prepare before the battles begin. The first meeting for teams will start later in January (date to be announced soon).

The reading list Includes the following books:
